A few years ago, I started getting into succulents and cacti. I had ideas and along with having so much to do as the owner of a large home with a large home and a large backyard – not to mention the garden I’ve been creating – I needed to have plants that require very little maintenance with growth and color for presence.
Everything at my home instantly dwarfs the minute it goes up. I resort to larger items and that is one of the things I have to remind myself of.
This year, four of my hanging baskets needed a refresh. I wanted the Harry Butterfield Giant Donkey Tails and a Graptopetalum that would enjoy the same conditions for the added color. While the Harry Butterfield blooms, the Graptopetalum Paraguayanese develops stress colors in yellow-pink or Blue-Gray. . Putting them together was something I thought to do at the last minute. Along with buying more brackets for my wood fence posts, I could imagine them growing this season’s end and doing well facing NorthEast in my Texas Hill Country Home.
They just went out this morning so there is no progress yet but I’ll be adding progress pics as they grow.
Here’s the Harry Butterfield with the ParaGuyanese Graptopetalum, both green. If you look closely, the Paraguayanese looks a bit blue-gray so let’s see what the pink will look like! I can’t wait to see them turn colors as they get more sun!
Happy Gardening, Friends!

Carolina
