Design And Order
Design and Order is a blog series I created for personal topics: My trials and triumphs while dealing with my nightmare client – my husband! Married to a designer, he’s a joker, and a prankster whom is constantly trying to make me laugh because I take everything so seriously. He has made it his job to make things easy because every response is indirect and it leaves it open to interpretation. I always choose to go with positive outcomes.
My husband says it’s not easy being married to an Interior Designer or Architectural Designer.
His friends think it’s easy: Great sources, great ideas, great contacts. Great design privilege. He couldn’t disagree more. Every day, it’s “design talk”. Every day it’s “Our house comes last. Clients come first.” “I think I want to change this light fixture. What do you think of this one?” He says all he hears is dollar signs adding up and confusion because he wants everything at the lowest price possible but at designer quality. In my defense, style is always changing so I keep up with little things that add value where it matters even if its visual value. I value Design and Order is what he values the value of an item, if it will cost the least, and it’s priority. If it doesn’t suit him, he’s not interested.
We’ve built a house and remodeled it before building it. We’ve bought a house and renovated it. Both were nightmares because nothing I do is low enough in cost for him. To add insult to injury, our daughter is also in University for design. So not only does he have one designer to deal with but a mini-version that’s following in her mother’s footsteps.
My name is Carolina and I’m the Design while my husband Luis is the Order of it. Together, we are Design and Order.
